About Me

I provide therapy and counseling in the areas of depression, life transitions/changes, sleep problems/insomnia, and trauma, and have a special interest in stress management, obsessive-compulsive behaviorsphobias, and anxiety (general/social/panic). I have experience working with clients from a wide and diverse range of backgrounds.

I began my career working in several Veterans Affairs hospitals, and have extensive experience helping our military veterans with life adjustment difficulties, depression, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This valuable opportunity afforded me a deeper understanding and greater respect for mental and emotional wellness in spite of the diverse challenges that life throws at us. I was also able to attain advanced training in treatments that are well researched, giving me a unique skillset of effective and proven techniques.

My approach to therapy is integrative which means that I use a variety of techniques depending on your needs and goals for therapy. My primary style is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and positive psychology. In other words, I use treatments that are based on scientific evidence while also focusing on your individual strengths and resilience to help nurture positive change and growth.

I believe it is equally important to recognize your strengths and identify what makes you happy versus only focusing on the negative symptoms that brought you to therapy. This approach allows us to work towards alleviating your negative symptoms and also building upon your strengths and best qualities to help you feel more fulfilled.

In addition to CBT and strength-based therapy, I have a strong passion for mindfulness practice to further improve management of stress and tolerance of distressing emotions.
